How often should I test for STDs?
If you are sexually active, it is recommended that you get tested once a year for chlamydia, gonorrhea, HIV, and syphilis. Herpes are usually tested for when symptoms exist.
How soon can STD be detected?
Some STDs can be tested for immediately, but may take one to three weeks to show symptoms of infection. Other STDs such as HIV can require as long as three months to be detected.
